Cross site publishing features helps to create content in
one or more site collections and it will appeared the content to another one or
more site collections.
Content in one site collection can be quickly appeared in
another site collection. In SharePoint 2013 sites arranged two components
mainly as search index and shared metadata where all the content stored into
search index, analytics stored in SharePoint database and metadata stored into
term store database. Here the cross-site publishing feature uses search technology to retrieve content
from the search index where content get crawled and added into search index.
Search Results web parts helps to display contents from one
site to another site collection.
One of key benefit is no boundaries for sharing
content across various SharePoint site collections and web applications.
